Tetra Tech’s history in Chile begins with the 100% acquisition of its predecessor, Metálica Consultores S.A., a company officially created in February 1991 with professional teams excelling in mining planning engineering.
At the outset, the company focused its activities in two main areas: the development of mining studies and projects and mining planning software.
Highlights include the introduction of planning concepts through opportunity cost as defined by Kenneth Lane, and years later, the introduction of the COMET strategic planning software in the domestic market.
In 2003 management decided to seek quality certification for Metálica’s engineering process under ISO 9001 standards to anticipate growing market demands, and simultaneously, differentiate the company from its competitors.
Beginning in 2011, Metálica Consultores was fully acquired by Tetra Tech, Inc., a global consulting and engineering firm with 17,000 employees, including scientists and engineers in 400 offices around the world. This team is includes more than 60 disciplines, offering our clients a wide range of services, including project management, construction management, engineering, and consulting.
